David Kane Simon, Chairman & CEO David Kane Simon, Chairman & CEO With the company’s evolution from residential to commercial carpet distribution, David has utilized his outgoing, high-energy personality to create a global portfolio of the largest purchasers of commercial carpet. His partnerships with The Trump Organization, SL Green Realty, McGraw-Hill Publishers and WM Properties, BC Exchange’s portfolio accounts for over 100 million square feet of carpet purchases. David is very active in both carpet industry issues and philanthropic initiatives. With the same determination developed during his days of playing professional basketball in the WBL, David has taken a leadership role in creating proactive initiatives in carpet manufacturing and installation by becoming the National Chairman of the Certified Floorcovering Installers (CFI)—a membership of over 50,000 carpet professionals throughout the country. David is proactive in carbon reduction initiatives for the floor covering industry, as well. He is a national lead sponsor for the U.S. Green Building Council and advocates for the use of LEED-certified materials in all his partnerships. In addition, David holds numerous carpet industry and manufacturer certifications and is a member of several industry associations. David is also involved with several philanthropic organizations—personally and on behalf of our company—in fulfillment of the ancient Hebrew tradition of “Tikkun Olam” (“to repair the world”). David is a graduate of New York University where he majored in business.
Mark Simon (no relation to our CEO David Simon) joined BC Exchange in 2007 as an officer and co-investor in the company. He brings us over 30 years of business experience through working for some large domestic and foreign corporations and in running small and mid-sized companies within the automotive and other manufacturing sectors. Mark's skill set is planning, financial management, team building, mergers and aquisitions, development of innovative marketing programs and new products, and turnaround management. Early in his professional career, Mark worked in mergers and aqusitions and headed up the corporate and strategic planning functions for some well known consumer package goods companies. Later on, Mark served as President/CEO of various portfolio companies for some private equity firms with over a billion dollars under management. Most recently, Mark was the CEO of a 250 employee NJ-based store fixture designer, manufacturer and importer, the CEO of a 255 employee Hoechst AG subsidiary that manufactured and distributed high quality automotive coating and refinishing products, and the President/CEO of a 100 employee Baltimore-based firm that manufactured automotive chemicals and accessories. Mark has worked for Fortune 500 companies including CIBA-GEIGY, Platyex International and Citibank. Mark has a MBA in Finance/Accounting from the University of Chicago and a BA in Economics from Boston University, where he was a student in the Honors Division of the College of Liberal Arts, a member of the Economics Honor Society, and selected to the Dean’s List. Mark has served on the Boards of Directors of various not-for-profit and trade group organizations. Frank joined BC Exchange in 1996 and oversees several areas of our company’s daily operations. He is responsible for maintaining and servicing our existing accounts, working closely with architects, designers and tenants on product specifications, and supervising the project management for select assignments. Frank is our employee relations liaison, assists in personnel hiring and related matters, and supervises all job site and workroom installers. He oversees our accounting, ordering and estimating departments, approves installer outlay, and is in charge of generating and approving proposals. In addition, Frank is the liaison to our manufacturers, vendors and suppliers for pricing, technical information and general problem solving. Frank has earned certifications from the Carpet & Rug Institute (CRI) and the Certified Floorcovering Installers (CFI), as well as LGM Technical Certification in carpet manufacturing processes. He is a member of a several industry associations including the World Floor Covering Association (WFCA), the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA). Prior to joining BC Exchange, Frank was the Associate Director of Public Relations at Anne Klein and uses this experience to assist our CEO in marketing BC Exchange in the industry. He attended Baruch College and New York University. |
